Acoustic Guitar Lesson – New Strumming Pattern For Rhythm Guitar
Here is a new strumming pattern on acoustic guitar for beginners taught by Megan from Next Level Guitar. This pattern may look a bit intimidating when she first plays it, but don’t worry. She breaks it up into three small parts making it easier to play and understand.
Part 1 of the strum pattern is as follows:
D U D U D ( DOWN/UP/DOWN/UP/DOWN)
Part 2 of the strum pattern is as follows:
D U U U ( DOWN/UP/UP/UP)
Part 3 of the strum pattern is as follows:
D U D U ( DOWN/UP/DOWN/UP)
When you combine all three of them together, it looks like this:
D/U/D/U/D/D/U/U/U/D/U/D/U
Play the first part slowly until you can play it perfectly. Then play the second until you can play it perfectly. Then combine the first and second parts and play that until you can play it perfectly. Lastly, combine all three and play the entire strumming pattern. Do this very slowly until you can play it perfectly, then slowly increase your speed.
